Lack of Awareness/Education:
Limited knowledge of Mental illness which can lead to stigmatization, delay in identification, treatment, and recovery.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 4 Nigerians suffers from a form of Mental Health Disorder. From Anxiety to Panic Disorders, Depression, Bipolar, and other Mood Disorders - the reality is alarming.
To cope, in the absence of adaptive coping skills, people may turn to alcohol and drug use, transfer aggression to loved ones affecting relationships or engage in other unhealthy coping strategies.
There is an urgent need for Mental Health & Wellness Services to teach coping mechanisms and provide the needed support.

With a focus on Nigeria, Reconnect HDI is collaborating with 4 Psychological Service Centers to Inform, Educate and Support through Assessment & Treatment, individuals struggling with Mental Health Challenges.
To overcome stigmatization, there is a need for enlightenment and education. Project X will involve awareness and sensitization advocacy campaigns to change the narrative.
Certified Psychiatrists & Psychologists will provide Webinar Series on the recognition, cause, and impact of different types of Mental Health Disorders.
Treatment Facilities are nonexistent in some parts of the country, specifically Northern Nigeria. Families often must travel long distances or wait in long queues to access treatment.
To improve access to Mental Health Services, through Project X, we are working with diverse mental health professionals and organizations to promote better mental wellbeing and provide discounted mental health and rehabilitation services.
